After the 1997transfer of Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China(PRC ),some commentators were concerned that the PRC would lirnit theeconomic freedorn and rule of law enjoyed by Hong Kong residents.Thisarticle compares the bank regulatory laws of Hong Kong with the PRC.Italso refers to Professor Anne-Marie Slaughter's analysis and typologyof "transgovernmental regulatory networks"and places the interactionbetween the HKMA and the China Banking Regulatory Commission within this typology.
